There are probably comics being published right now that are better written or drawn than this one, but I can’t think of a single one that’s more damn fun to read!
Jason Aaron just seems to be having a ball with these characters and it shows on every page and in every line of dialogue. No angst-y mutants or brooding vigilantes here, just 20 pages of Wolvie and Quentin Quire gambling like Kenny Rogers could never have even dreamed of in an intergalactic Casino Royale, while the rest of the earthbound cast take on a Brood invasion both inside and out of Kitty Pryde’s body! And it. Is. Wonderful!
Special mention also has to go to Nick Bradshaw for giving this book a look that, while completely different to Chris Bachalo’s, is every bit as enjoyable. I’ve loved Bradshaw’s work since the Danger Girl mini he drew many years ago, and it’s great to see him finally get the chance to break out on such a high profile, high quality title. If Marvel can keep the two art teams rotating on future arcs they have an unbeatable combination on their hands.
