Maybe it’s just that this issue suffered from not having Bachalo on art duties, but this issue felt pretty unnecessary. I didn’t learn anything that I didn’t know from previous AvX books and tie-ins, and I didn’t laugh a single time, which is the first time in the run that I wasn’t entirely amused by Aaron’s writing.

  1. That sucks. It feels to me like AVX is a big empty story, spreading it’s mindlessness like a plague. 🙁

  2. I would guess because they are being forced to do AVX tie-ins. I don’t see how anyone could dislike Bradshaw’s gorgeous art.

  3. what? you like bachalo more then bradshaw?
to each their own i guess.

  4. @shadybady21 & thehangman: I got the impression, solely from this issue, that Bradshaw was trying to draw the characters in a similar vein as Romita Jr. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t grab me. It was…functional and adequate, which was a let down for me.

@BCDX97: I thought the early tie-in issues were actually better than some of the main title issues. This one didn’t measure up, though.

    • I liked them, too. They were the only tie-ins I really liked. But I’ve pretty much given up on AVX so it’s a moot point now.

  5. Definitely felt echoes of Romita Jr. with this issue. Think I miss Bachalo here, but I get schizophrenic with my art tastes, so I could feel differently next time.

  6. I have given up on reading the AXV main title, and honestly can’t wait til this title gets back to doing its own thing. Anyone else notice Bradshaw’s art seemed wildly different depending on who was inking it (I think there three different inkers, including Bradshaw himself on this)? Some pages I really likes, others not so much.
