Well, I almost didn’t pick this one up, for a couple of reasons, I thought maybe I’d wait for the trade, or only support Aaron’s work in Scalped and Ghost Rider as they’re more obscure.

But I tell ya I’m happy I grabbed this book now.  Easily one of the best wolverine stories I’ve read in a long time.  No mystical “angel of death” fighting, (sorry Guggenhiem) just a great story about a bad-ass tracker on someone’s trail.

Really strong art from Garney in a quick moving tale with loads of potential.  THe page of Wolvie lying on his back having been riddled with bullets is particularily cool, even though you know he’s getting up, it really looks like he’s in pain.

Best of all it seems Aaron really gets Wolvie, he’s not just spewing cliches, drinking beer, and saying bub (not that I mind when he does) he’s got some character!  And it feels right!

Great fun all around, I can’t wait for the next issue.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. Agreed.  This issue was badass, and I had a helluva lot of fun reading it.  Jason Aaron could write this book forever and you’d get no complaints from me.

  2. I totally agree.  Great Wolverine, and great Mystique as well.  This is one of the better single issues of anything that I’ve read in a while, and I’m totally on board for whatever happens next.

  3. This was my pick of the week.

  4. Great book, especially in light of the way that it provides depth to Mystique’s character. Good point about the art.
