What a strange issue. It’s so strange I have to do a review on it.

Honestly, I don’t think Paul Cornell has any idea on how to write Wolverine. Cause nothing that comes out of Logan’s mouth is anything you’ve heard from him before. He talks in exposition most of the time and keeps telling people on what type of person he is. But he also has catchphrases and bizarre one-liners such as:

“What, you duck into a library on the way here?”

or

“And damn it again!”

I’ve never read a Logan like this before in my life and yet I love every second of this. Instead of a gritty Wolverine book we have a far-out, insane take on the most overused character in comic book history. I feel bad to not talk about Alan Davis’s art (and his team) because it is so damn good to look at. But it is the strangeness of the writing that will stick out for me for months to come.

I am quite certain no one wants to read this type of comic when it comes to everyone’s favorite Canadian superhero. But, for once, I am mesmerized by a Wolverine comic because it makes no damn sense. It feels like it is being weird for the sake of being weird. But the scariest thing of them all is that I honestly think Paul Cornell is not doing this on purpose…..Which makes it even more satisfying.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. I’m going to agree with you that this is weird and Cornell has no idea how to write Wolverine. But I’m going to part ways with you on the idea that it is satisfying. I found the story completely uninteresting. The only thing this book has going for it is the art.
