After years of avoiding Marvel’s cosmic stories, Annihaltion drew me into their mythos. I love Nova, Guardians Of The Galaxy. I”ll even tolerate the premise of the X-Men in space stories that Brubaker had foisted on us. But I’m incredibly weary of Emperor Vulcan. His character is flat, and unbelivable. A cartoonish villain in a universe that seems too fleshed out for his existence. No intelligent race (and the Shi’ar have always been portrayed as intelligent) would follow this whiny bitch.
IThat was just one part of this story that left me feeling a bit ugh in the brain. I may stop reading this until the trade, and see if it’s more enjoyable in that format.

The Shiar change regimes twice a week. Two of the three previous rulers were crazy (Deathbird and D’Ken) and even the sane one dropped a negaton bomb that killed billions for no good reason and was currupted by Cassandra Nova. Though I have some issues with Vulcan, he makes as much sense as a ruler as the others did.
