With this issue, Kirkman seems to be setting up the story arch to come. A chance phone call is heard and received. From hence forth the seeds are laid for the stories to come. Yet Kirkman and Adlard smack us in the face with something completely unexpected, which totally changes our understanding of the events in the previouse 3/4 of the book.  But a story twist alone does not a great book make. Charlie Adlard completly sells the surprise his ever moody and expressive art. He sells the quiet moments just as well as the shockers.

Kirkman and Adlard are doing powerful work. This is a book that deserves to be read in issues.
