Until Uncanny X-men #524, I have never read an issue where the art completely ruined my reading experience. Normally, as long as the art is serviceable I can over look its weaknesses and enjoy the writing. In this issue I can't even tell whether Fraction wrote a good story because the art is so horrible and distracting. With the turn of every page, I began critiquing the art, which I almost never do, and felt a sick feeling in my stomach. After last week's great issue of X-factor and the quality of Second Coming as a whole, I was really excited for Uncanny but the issue disappointed. One would think that Marvel would have pulled out all the stops to deliver a quality issue to deal with Nightcrawler's death but Marvel did not. When a cross-over stretches across so many different titles, it is almost guaranteed to have a weak issue somewhere and this issue of Uncanny is clearly the weakest link. Please Marvel I implore you to get Fraction some help on uncanny because if the art remains this bad not even Fraction will be able to keep this title afloat. I would give the art a zero but the lowest score I can give it is a 1.
