This series is starting to remind me of the last season and a half of Babylon 5, “Alright you’ve told that big epic story and it was fantastic but lets wrap things up already.”

Everyone involved on the book are still very talented; Remender is no less skilled or entertaining but there is no new story here to rival those first 18 issues. This happens to many great series, once that first, inspired story is done and its a big success they keep things going because they have a hit they don’t want to end even though they don’t have another equally big inspired story to follow up with.

So what we are getting lately with X-Force is stories that are after images or fallout of that first big, epic story. Done with skilled and able creators still but without that spark of brilliance that made the series a must read. Phil Noto is a gifted artist but I’m not sure this is the material that he can do better than anyone else and that material absolutely does exist. And no matter who has been on art duties on this title it has never had the same impact as when Opena is on board.

Perhaps I have come across as harsh for a book that is still pretty good, I just miss when it was great.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
