I’m fucking tired as fuck and getting ready to leave work early cause I want to go home and lay down in bed and watch a Breaking Bad marathon or something.

At any rate I’m about to write some shitty reviews real quick (as opposed to my normally brilliant dissertations that get read by the iFanboys on their weekely Podcasts on a regular basis because they are so fucking awesome) so get ready for an Onslaught of shitty grammar and pointless metaphors and tired phrases like “Slow Burn” and “Knocked it out of the Park.”

This should have been re-titled “1st FANTASTIC ISSUE!” because this issue is what #1 should have been like.

It’s taken Rick Remender 5 issues to find his footing with this team but man, was it worth the wait – I had a blast reading this issue and loved every bit of it.

Allow me to bullet point my favorite parts cause like, bullet pointing stuff is a lot easier then having to write out a long paragraph and seem like a really smart and shit.

* Dudes, KANG steals some evil babies! I’m sure he will make a great father to those cute little spawns of Apocalypse

* Rouge replacing the old picture the original Avengers with a picture of Professor X is a perfect example of “the changing of the guard”. Well played Remender.

* Hey Frank Cho and Paul Cornell THIS is how you write Wolverine my friends. Logan tracking down Sunfire in Japan is motherfucking old school Logan shit that made us fall in love with this character in the first place. This is how its done. This is Wolverine. Fuck yeah!

* I like this Havoc. I like the way he is becoming the “New Scott Summers”. This dude is the perfect leader and that speech he gives while taking off his mask and reviling his identity to the world had echos of that JFK speech about “we all breath the same air and we all love our children.” Beautiful stuff. But wait a sec? On page 14 in that last panel Rogue gives Havoc a kiss on the cheek without absorbing his powers? can she now control that shit now? Did I miss something?

* Then the Grim Reaper shows up and Havoc, an X-Men for as long as I have been reading comics, utters that famous phrase I never thought I would see him do….”AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!” Cool man. Cool.

*two words bub, “Snikt. Snikt”

*oopsie, Rouge just killed the shit out the Grim Reaper.

So yeah, hows that for a shitty review! I truly loved this issue and I even thought I have a few more comics to read here after I leave work and I’m pretty sure I’m giving this my Pick Of The Week.

Ok, time to clock out.

“YEAH! MAGNETS BITCH!”

  1. I like the part where you just said what happened.

  2. I enjoyed the first arc after re-reading it one sitting, but yes, this was issue that finally delivered everything I’d like this series to be about.

And yes, Rogue is now in control of her powers. She decides how much power to leech and whether it knocks the other person out. She even has enough control to “mix and match” abilities from multiple donors. It’s about time, if you ask me. Angsty Rogue was getting really tired.

  3. Man this issue was fantastic. Great review!

    • Just “Great”? Come on dude, this review was Spectacular! I’d even go so far to say it was “Superior”!

      The die has been cast!

      (wait, wrong comic)

      🙂

  4. Should Rogue get in trouble for killing the Grim Reaper when he just wanted to die anyway?

This was the best issue of the series so far. Feels like old school Marvel Comics.

    • MikeFarley my friend (any relation to Chris?) you are right – this issue was old school all the way and seriously dude, when I finished reading it I had a smile on my face and said, “now this is why I read comics.”

Also, you know what else I really loved about it now that I think about it? The last few weeks there has been so much Doom and Gloom with Damian dying, John Constantine getting his balls cut off, Animal Man’s mullet loving kid getting killed, every cover of the New 52 showing someone crying – it was just so nice to have this fun issue to read and take away the blues.

      Marvel Now? Fuckin’ A
