Aron Coleite and Mark Brooks have taken over the reigns from Robert Kirkman and Harvey Tolibao, and it's a marked improvement. The big flop story for Apocalypse is finally over, and Cable and Bishop are gone, and I couldn't be happier. With just one issue under their respective belts, Coliete and Brooks are starting to make this feel like an Ultimate book again, and not just another X-title.
Here we have mutants getting suped-up using some miracle drug called "Banshee" (probably cuz it's derived from a mutant of the same name in this universe; just guessing). The drug gives normal people temporary powers and gives mutants "secondary, even tertiary mutations" (which we see in fascinating abundance on the last page!). I'm very happy to see this book do what most superhero comics don't do: apply everyday real-world problems to superheroes' lives. Substance abuse issues aside, this comic also does the same interesting thing that The Initiative #13 did (it's okay, no spoiler); it shows what happens when someone has a super-power, but it's completely useless on its own. This is going in a very interesting direction, but I have massive concerns about the characters who decide to use Banshee (both in what it means to their moral judgment, and to the suggestion to young readers about casual drug use). Regardless, it's a very good read..

i’m not a big follower of the ultimate line or the x lines… it’s weird to hear readers applaud the exit of Lord Kirkman
You’re right. It is wierd. Imagine my surprise!
Not his best work in my opinion.
