This issue had me and lost me. While I loved the character development and the internal monologue by Miles, the missing pieces (things that I assume were depicted in the previous run, with Miles fighting his first villain, etc) were really jarring to me, someone who didn't read those issues. I loved that we only saw what Miles saw of Peter's death, that we felt as clueless as he did to what was going on. And the guilt he felt for Peter's death taps directly into that reasoning that we often see in divorcee children. That was very poignant. But then we completely miss Miles' first fight with a real villain, and suddenly the issue feels very disjointed and takes us out of Miles' perspective (which is a first for this run, and I don't think it works). I understand Bendis didn't want to re-hash story for previous readers, but it really hampered the enjoyability for this new reader, at least. Pichelli's art is, of course, still great.
