With all of the (deserved) hate the Ultimate line got during and after Ultimatum, and the DC New 52, it’s understandable there hasn’t much press on this comic since Miles Morales was announced. But people, do yourself a favor and squeeze this into your pull list. Bendis is going about this the exact right way, he is building interesting, new, well-rounded characters. I am a huge Spider-Man fan, and hated losing even Ultimate Peter Parker, but Bendis is honoring the Spider-Man mythos and responsibility theme without retelling the same story that’s been told since the ’60’s. And from what I can tell, it’s something you wouldn’t mind showing to your kids. You’re going to get a lot of talking, like you’d expect from a new Bendis story. And there’s no super villains in this issue, but if you want to be part of something really great, it’s totally worth being on the ground floor of this series.
