A solid start for the new Ultimate Spidey: Miles Morales is likeable, relatable, and different from Peter without being a total departure from the nature of the character. His supporting cast looks solid, too.

Sara Pichelli’s art looks good as ever, proving again that, at least in action-light stories like this, she’s a worthy successor to Maleev. Bendis, meanwhile, is in good form.

There’s a lot of new stuff to like here: let’s just hope it doesn’t take as long to get to the web-swinging as it did for Peter’s origin story back in 2000.

  1. Ahem. Yes, when I typed “Maleev”, I meant “Bagley”. At least I named another artist with whom Bendis collaborates.
