This second Ultimate Comics Presents The Avengers storyline is right up there with Millar’s first Ultimates runs as some fantastic blockbuster storytelling.  There’s violence without schlock.  There’s surprising character development.  And there’s just enough plot to keep you looking at Leinil Yu’s very pretty art.

THERE IS A MODERATE SPOILER BELOW THE ASTERISK.  IT DOES NOT REVEAL ANYTHING EARTH SHATTERING TO THIS COMIC.  READ AT YOUR OWN VERY SLIGHT RISK.

I was confused as hell about whether Luke Cage was supposed to be the original Hulk on the final page of the previous issue.  Who else was this guy supposed to be?  Well, to me, it’s a character I’m unfamiliar with, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a Millar original.  I like him, and look forward to seeing how he blends into the team.

  1. Amended: I think this is the ULtimate version of Marvel 616 Patriot’s grandfather, aka Thr Original Captain America.  Could be wrong, though.
