*Slow Clap*

Welcome back Mr. Millar, you’ve been missed.

The Ultimates pretty much went into the shitter a while back.  I stopped reading after the Skrull invasion so I didn’t have the problems of waiting for it to come out when Hitch couldn’t draw on a regular basis.  Before it went to hell though there was one thing I loved about it, every issue felt like a huge summer action movie.  It was every Terminator, Predator, Die Hard type movie all rolled into one.

When Jeph Loeb took over I have no idea what the book became.  Don’t even get me started on Ultimatum.  I said I was done after that book, but this and Ultimate Spider-Man stared me down.

This book is the sequel to that summer blockbuster feel that I’ve been missing.  This month was the Buddy Cop movie, with Cap and Hawkeye kicking all sorts of ass.  There were people jumping motorcycles onto helicopters, others being tossed out of them, and severe beat downs.

We also get introduced to Ultimate Red Skull, something the Ultimate Universe was sorely lacking.  The revelation is something I heard a while back through the rumor mill, but it’s still startling.

Carlos Pacheco is as always rocking it.  I’m glad he’s on this book as he can keep a monthly schedule better than Hitch, while keeping that Cinematic look and feel.

Some people may say this book was over the top and stupid, but I really think you meant to say it was awesome.

Story: 4 - Very Good

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more. This exactly what I thought about the book as well.
