In a previous review, I made the note that, while Busiek and Bagley were off to a rough start, it seemed like Trinity was getting better. And here we are, three issues later. Has the trend continued? Are we on the trail to another 52? Or are we going to be subjected to another Countdown. Well, to be honest, neither are really the case.
In Week 9, we find a strange new villain named The Swashbuckler (tell your friends!), and he's causing all kinds of ruckuses, from blowing up a city mall to (dare I repeat it), stealing Nightwing's mask! Don't feel too bad about the latter, though. Apparently Dickie-boy wires the ol' domino with high-power explosives. Where does he get these wonderful toys?!
Elsewhere, Wonder Woman (who was caught in the mall explosion) discovers that the Crime Syndicate of Amerika is back on Earth-1, and they're up their usual tricks. As if that wasn't enough, Batman's dinner party got interrupted. Oh, the humanity!
The only way to put it would be to say that Trinity is on its way to being on its way to being good. Plot seeds have been planted, the secondary stories are starting to catch up, quality-wise, and the characterizations of the Big 3 are starting to match up more. In other words, I think this book is finally going to start living up to its pedigree within the next few issues. And, frankly, it's about damn time.

Wow, nine issues in and it looks like it might possibly get perhaps good. Maybe hopefully. That’s a lot to ask of readers in my humble opinion. Thanks for the review Viewt!
I’m waiting for the reveal on why all the robberies are being committed by mostly the Batman Rogues Gallery. I’m not sold on Swashbuckler, or Nightwing’s booby-trapped mask. Yeah, like I’d be nuts enough to put that on my face. I guess that would be the ultimate suicide pill, though.
I guess with 52 issues you have to pace yourself.
