I remember you saying you have an issue coming up where you wrote it. Is that still happening?
Probably not, TNC. It was approved and shelved. And the artist I was working with wants no part of the press that puts this out, and I can’t blame him. It sucks. I’m really pleasantly surprised that this run has been as good as it has been (and it’s been excellent), given how incredibly out of touch the comics editors are.
Don’t sell yourself short. I’m sure you wrote a great comic.
Shame it is getting shelved though. You should show it to us sometime if it never gets published. Cause I would definitely love to read it. 🙂
@tnc: You’re probably not checking this, but I’ve been reading over a bunch of my reviews and comments, and realizing that while I focus on making sure my reviews are fairly clear, my comments appear to be a little muddled of intent.
My above comment is either missing a chunk of things that I typed, or my brain was working too fast. "no part of the press that puts this out" does not refer to NEC press, who puts out The Tick, and who I work for. I know his feelings don’t apply to NEC Press, not because we are made of puppies and rainbows, and have never done any wrong, but because he never even submitted any art to NEC Press.
Anyhow my comment should have read: "Probably not TNC. The artist I was working with had a massive falling out with another company, and wants no part of the comics industry. He’s currently jumped the fence to graphic design work. I can’t blame him, the fact that they shelved a project he’d been working on for three years really sucks. As a fan of his art, I’m a little biased, but I think the editors who canceled this are out of touch."
The "I am pleasantly surprised by how good this run has been." should have been written up in the review section, and not in the comment.
I’ll let you know if I decide to go back to my Tick script. I’m not selling myself short by saying the current run is better than the script that I worked on. Benito Cereno has a gift for writing this title.
