Before I get to my review I want to say how fantastic this cover is. At first it looks ridiculous and it has nothing to do with the issue. But then you realize just what the Thunderbolts are struggling to ride on (hint: it’s what the facility is called) and it makes perfect sense. So great job by Kev Walker and Frank Martin on the cover.

Fantastic, I say. More Fear Itself tie-ins by Marvel. Can’t wait for another series to be ruined by marketing and editorial. But thank god for Jeff Parker for not being a slave to the editorial department. Most of this book is deals with the new and old T-Bolts team fighting zombies in Africa. That part of the book is loads of fun and once again Parker knows my love for Shocker and uses him well here. The stuff involving Juggernaut getting involved with Fear Itself isn’t bad, but it didn’t impress me one way or another. I cared more for the unknown prisoners trying to leave the prison instead of the obvious bigger problem. Either way though, Kev Walker continues to amaze me with his pencils. The sequence with Juggernaut training, or the team fighting zombies looks great. But then you get the pages involving the prison riot and he handles the rain perfectly. The panel of the T-Bolts getting to the prison is pure Mike Mignola right there.

This book has survived tie-ins before, once with Shadowland and another with a Hulk tie-in. I have pure faith in Jeff Parker to make this a fun story with the T-Bolts stopping a prison riot (can more badass Warden Walker be on the way?) and maybe more Juggernaut become a ‘Worthy’ too. With Walker on pencils, and Declan Shalvey later too, this is gonna be a gorgeous book. That I have no doubts of.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
