Based on this issue, I think I’m really going to enjoy the “writer’s room” approach as this book moves forward. The transition from Nick Spencer to James Asmus felt very seamless, a feat that is facilitated by Martinbrough and Serrano’s steady but impressive work on the art side. 8 issues in, this isn’t a book that bashes you over the head with shocking plot twists, cloyingly quirky characters, or wild experimentation with the comics form, but instead delivers a strong, character-driven crime narrative with crystal-clear visual storytelling. As long as that continues, this book will remain a great read!

  1. I agree, this had a very seamless transition.

  2. I read the first 3 issues but decided to wait for the trade. Sounds like I won’t be disappointed.
