It amazes me that this book has been as enthralling as it has. Ed Brubaker's Captain America was what got me back into comics a few years back and I have been depressed with how far it seems to have fallen in the past year and a half or so. Apparently that decline in quality has been so he can focus all of his energy on this book. When this book started, there was no way I thought I could find yet another origin story so enthralling, but watching each member of the Invaders as they evolve into the heroes we know and love has been a thrill ride. This issue saw the origin of the Steve Rogers and Bucky alliance, but the real emotional impact came from the pairing of The
Human Torch- The Jim Hammond one, obviously- and Toro. The shining thread of this series has been watching the world's most lovable android go from fancy robot into a father figure for the tragic Toro.

I feel like it would be a total disservice to not mention the art. It's hard to come up with anything fresh to say about how well Steve Epting's drawings work with Brubaker's style- This just screams of the early issues of Captain America, and mmay in fact be even better looking.
