The art here is amazing. Marcus To has really emulated previous pencils to great effect without seeming to rip them off. The plot is a pretty contrived though. Barry has been declared dead and he is running with that story (pun intended) in order to protect loved ones. This is almost exactly like Action Comics with Clark Kent. Barry choosing to work where he does and the fortuitous nature of running into villains fighting right in front of him is also off. Part of the draw of the Flash has always been Barry Allen and his unique relationships and personality. Taking him out of that space and making him almost anonymous doesn’t feel right for this book.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. My store didn’t get Flash this week.

I’m going to assume that Barry lost his speed, and that he’s just wandering along some country road on his way to the local comic book racks.

  2. Spot-on review!

I feel the same way abut the writing/characterization of Barry in this title.

And yes, the similarity of the :”dead secret identity” plot here and in Action points to a lack of editorial control and vision on DC’s part.
