Huge Flash fan from way back, got back issues going into the 60’s.

Love Barry, love Wally, love Jay. But its been a long time since there has been a solid Flash series, the last one was close but it got hung up in being the starting point for Flashpoint. It seemed to exist just so Flashpoint could bring us the new 52.

Even though Flashpoint ended with lots of questions in regard to the Flash, (after all he caused everything)I doubt Manapul is interested in answering them. He just wants to start over. I’m sure those questions will eventually be answered with some event later on, after all that hooded woman is all over DC right now. But back to the book and I’ll leave my questions for later. The art of Manapul has that sleekness that reminds me of Infantino, the definitive Flash artist. And Manapul’s a very skilled story teller as well, I didn’t have any concerns with him and Buccellato taking over the writing. The story was well paced, the introduction of characters well handled, and I’m glad Iris is a promanate presence in the book. Even though they are not married (yet) their brief interactions give you hints of what their future holds. Vastly different people, but a perfect couple. This is a far cry from the situation on Superman #1.

I’m glad to see The Flash in safe hands, this book stays on my list. And I look forward to seeing Barry and Iris connect, the explanation of Kid Flash, the fate of Wally West.
