Boy this was wild. The twist was unexpected, although there were clues earlier in the series. I knew that something hinged on Black Noir, but I never saw this coming. Truly twisted. This was gory too, in a very satisfying and appropriate way. But what I wouldn't give for an additional issue showing what all went down in the Oval Office after Butcher jumped out the window. I felt a little cheated, like all those fights on "Heroes" they never showed due to budget costs. Still, it was a great issue. I thought the art was particularly good in this one, a step up from the normal issues.
My only other complaint about this issue was that it seemed that conventional weapons were too effective against super powered beings. But who knows, maybe they were special rounds or missiles or whatever. Maybe when a SPB is worn down so far all the bullets and tank rounds and whatever take a cumulative toll. It didn't stand in the way of me loving the story.
I can't begin to guess how Ennis will wrap this up or what Butcher is about to do. Six issues is too much for simple denouement, but shit, who's left to kill? And what would his deceased wife have hated more than what he has already done?
Art: 5 - Excellent
