A good solid start to the relaunched Teen Titans book. The “Villain abducting teenagers” plot is fairly standard fare for the Teen Titans, but the characterisations are good, the relationship between Superboy & Wonder Girl is handled deftly (and is clearly building up to be a major subplot for the book), and the scenes with Kid Flash & Superboy are reminiscent of the lamented Young Justice series. The best scenes, however, are reserved for Batman and Robin; JT Krul gives Damian a cruel glint in his eye and dialogue dripping with sardonic wit. I suspect the inclusion of Damian is going add a great deal to this book.

I loved Nicola Scott’s art in Secret Six, and here her clean-cut pencils are enhanced by Hazlewood’s inks, making this one of the best looking Titans books since the George Perez era.

A recommended jumping on point, especially for fans of Damian

PS Can we agree on how old Bart Allen is these days. Previously, he’d been aged to his late teens / early twenties. Here he looks like he’s back to about 14 or 15. Any thoughts, iFanbase?

  1. They de-aged Bart when he came back to life, putting him about where he was during Infinite Crisis. By my estimation, that makes him about 15 or so. Maybe 16.

This was great, and well done in citing Young Justice. I felt echoes of that series too.
