Oh dearie Lord, who signed off on this comic? It's not even dopily entertaining, it's just annoyingly bad. It's part three of a crossover with the Titans and new Vigilante book, and given that I read the start of the story in the recent Teen Titans Annual I should be able to follow it. But no, there's no recap as to what happened in part two for those of us not buying whichever title that appeared in, no editorial note suggesting we pick that book up and no smart expository dialogue to bring us up to speed. All we're told is that Jericho (hopefully you know he's a former Titan, kids, cos you're not told here) is out to kill the various Titans because he supposedly believes they're working with someone out to murder him.
He could be referring to Vigilante, who appears on a page or two . . . I only know he's Vigilante from house ads, as he's not namechecked here. Much of the story involves about 14 Titans being unable to stop a T-wing from crashing, but the dialogue makes it difficult to follow and Joe Bennett's storytelling is weaker than I'd expect from this artist ... I had to read a scene involving Raven's soul self and the jet being diverted from entering it three times before working out what was going on. There's a vignette at the start involving someone who looks exactly like Wonder Girl torturing someone who is apparently a policeman, but who are they are and what's going on? The glowy green eyes of the blonde suggest the possession powers of Jericho at work, but this could just be someone with nice contacts. At the end there's a glowy-eyed man arriving at a posh do in what's obviously meant to be a thrilling cliffhanger but its significance eludes me - is the man in a tuxedo previous (dead?) Vigilante Adrian Chase, Jericho after a session with hair straighteners, or what?
Yes, I'm belabouring a point, but every page of this comic frustrated me - it's not like Bennett and writer Sean McKeever are without talent. This smacks of a story that's been dashed off in a hurry, or been soured by the too many crooks scenario that crossovers often bring.
Maybe folk reading all the parts of this crossover are having a whale of a time, but I'm out.
