This may be the finest zero issue I’ve read so far.

Nice baton handoff from Scott Snyder to James Tynion. This story is well crafted and well paced. I was already a Calvin Rose fan by page four. Not an easy task for a writer to pull off, especially someone as new as Tynion.

Guillem March’s art is perfect for this title. The shadows are bold, the layouts are pleasing to the eye, and facial detail may be creepy in some panels but it’s impossible not to stare. March’s inking has that broad, feathery feel, reminiscent of, dare I say it–the legendary Joe Kubert. (And feathery is great for a book called TALON!)

This one’s staying on my pull list. I’m hooked like fresh meat on a talon.

Story: 5 - Excellent
