To start off, there are three different artists that worked on this issue. Wes Craig did the main storyline, Mike Choi does flashbacks of Colleen/Jennings, and Trevor McCarthy drew the Undersea Agent back up. I was a bit unsure of Wes Craig at first (perhaps I was too closely comparing him to CAFU, the artist from last year's mini-series), but in this issue his work is outstanding, with interesting layouts, and a good reveal when Raven shoots Toby after saying "Why did God harden the Pharaoh's heart?". This mini-series would make no sense if you haven't read the first volume from last year, but the references throughout this issue to Spider etc are great, and really set everything up well. Mike Choi's flashbacks are breathtakingly beautiful, and are a simple way of showing how Colleen and Professor Jennings first met. The fact that Dynamo and Lightning were killed with very little fanfare in earlier issues troubled me, as the first volume did so much to set up their characters, so having them back (thanks to Jennings) this issue made me smile (a testament to Nick Spencer's writing). I doubt that they'll be doing anything that interesting with 1 issue left, but it's nice to have them back. Presumably when CAFU returns next issue it'll be a flashback of Raven, so we can see how she is involved with Spider, which I look forward to, and also to how Nick Spencer can wrap the whole series up neatly (so many twists and turns of characters have made everyone suspect at this point). As to the Undersea Agent story, it was good enough in terms of story, but I don't know why it was in the book entirely. As it took place in between volumes 1 and 2, perhaps he will appear next issue? Either way, it might not be necessary, but the art was very nice, and more Thunder Agents makes me happy.
