Jeff Lemire is a genius and Sweet Tooth #15 is his latest masterpiece. I have really enjoyed each individual story arc so far, but it remained unclear to me how events and characters were inter-related. In this issue things start to fall into place in an extremely natural way and that doesn’t happen often enough in comic books these days. Often times writers go for huge plot twists, sudden character deaths (see Invincible #75), or obscure call backs to make their individual arcs connect as an overall narrative. Jeff Lemire uses NONE of these tricks and the bricks of his story are falling together perfectly. The artwork is amazing and this book has some really innovative panels that really compliment the storytelling. There is no dialogue in the last ten pages of this book, but, through the script of Gus’ father’s bible and some really great art, Lemire builds the story close to a boiling point. I can’t wait to see where he takes us next.
