This issue is pretty much what you would expect. Superboy and Poison Ivy “team up” to address a mutual concern attacking Smallville, the relationship between Superboy and Simon is developed further, and the plot deepens. There are a couple of twists in the comic. One was fairly expected, the other was more unexpected.

One of the things I like about this book is its supporting cast: Simon, Krypto and Smallville. Simon seems like an interesting character, and he comes up with a cool idea that helps save the day. It will be interesting to see if they eventually make him the Lex to Connor’s Superman. I hope they don’t. I hope it’s more of a balancing each other’s weaknesses sort of thing. And, Krypto should be in more comics because he’s awesome.

My major complaint about this issue was the dialog. It seemed forced and “by the numbers” in places. And, the ending did not get me excited for the next issue, but I’ll stick with it. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it didn’t blow my socks off.

The art was solid. My only complaint their would be the coloring, which gave people weird rosy flesh tones.
