The first issue of this series was the Little Comic Who Could. The art was great, the colors popped right off the page and the story was a new and intriguing re-imagining of Superboy’s origin that harkens not only to themes from his beginnings in Young Justice and Teen Titans, but also feels a lot like the new Young Justice cartoon. And that’s a good thing. In short, it seemed to embody everything the relaunch stood for.

However, as Scott Lobdell’s other DC efforts recieved middling to bad reviews, especially with a lackluster Teen Titans relaunch, it seemed the positive buzz on this book was destined to run dry. However, despite it’s ties to the poorly drawn Teen Titans book, this comic continues to be as entertaining as ever. This issue borrows thematically from manga themes of super-powered teens out of control, a few pages seemed straight out of Akira, but it borrows well and subtly. This issue proves that the first issue was not a fluke and this is, indeed, a book to look out for.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
