Sorry I still can’t call this book Static Shock. To me in my mind this book just plain Static. I know the reason why because of the cartoon but beside that this is a great first issue.
The writing of this book feels like reading an old Static book.
In this first issue you get:
1. Virgil new life in New York complete with Spiderman mentions.
2. Static in action right out the bat. The new villains look pretty interest.
3. A appearance of a Milstone character. I hope more show up in the new DC.
The story of why he is New York is still a mystery and I can’t wait to find out the reason.

This book is one of the series that wanted to get and right now I can’t for the next issue

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. Great to hear that you really liked it. This is one that I hope succeeds. Would you say that this is an ‘all-ages’ title?

    • I would say that it is good for younger readers. There is action/violence in it and a death actually so factor that into your decision making, before you hand it to a young reader.

That said, I know nothing about this character, and am brand new to DC ( but not to comics ) with the new 52. I really didn’t enjoy this book, but based on this review I may give it another shot. Maybe once I figure out what is going on I will enjoy the journey a little more. I just found this book to be lacking. The creative team did nothing to make me like Virgil/Static. I have read every issue of ultimate spiderman and a lot of invincible which I think is where this book should be competing and it is no-where close to those out of the gate.
