So I’ve never been the guy to pick up comics the same week they hit the shelves, but the New 52 got me excited and interested. I picked up Static Shock solely because I had seen the cartoon and wanted to find out more. After the first couple pages I was a little disappointed. Whether it was or not, it just seemed like I was reading box after box of text and it really distracted me. The artwork was great for the cartoon-like, somewhat kiddish style of book that this is; I just didn’t feel like I could enjoy it. I am really digging the intelligence Virgil has and how he tells us, in nerdy detail, the way he is planning on manipulating certain things around him with his powers. Just find some way to make him more verbally efficient. Shit give me a tiny chemistry/physics lesson in a picture when he goes to do something but help me connect with this guy. Despite all of that I’m still interested to see where this goes!
