Okay, would you like to review the actual book now? Those are low ratings, so it would be helpful to make citations. Gimmicks are fine, but they need to serve the argument you’re making for or against the product you’re reviewing.

We’re only about 5 people on the website… Also I got the lowest score (0 via two ratings) but it looks like I got no scores, but it was justified.

Heres the review: This was a pile of shit that tried to be a Noir book. It was a flimsy setting with the same characterizations of the proper Spider-Man title. Add in some of the weakest ‘shocking reveals’ or just a lack of real surprises in the back….it just read like a bad ‘crime’ novel. Also, some of the worst art I have ever seen for a Marvel book. Half the time it looks like dandruff is on the page (which is suppose to be snow). Bad bad bad bad bad bad book.
Okay now what was more entertaining? Me bitching about this for about 4-5 sentences? Or trying to entertain you guys by stating what I would like to do more then read this? Damn if you do, damn if you dont.
If you don’t have anything to say about a book you could just, and here’s an idea, not review it.
I do have something to say about this book. I mentioned why it was bad on the forums, and now I had to do a post here to say why I hated the book.
I just want to entertain, is that so hard to ask?

This book was really good. The best of the Noir line so far.

Is complaining about 50 things, many of them personal disappointments, supposed to be entertaining? What if you were the writer or artist on this book and you read this? Wouldn’t it make more sense to explain what you disliked in case they wanted to adjust their process? Being entertaining is fine, but shoot for some substance, ya know?
@PaulMontgomery – when reviews are at an extreme it’s easier for the creators to dismiss them. I think it’s better than half-assed reviews written to complain. As for entertainment – some people will probably enjoy this.
Who says a costumer needs to be well-read? As long as they have good taste in fabric and can use a sewing machine, they should be good to go!
I have to admit, going through what seems to be a fairly transparent look at TNC’s thought process is somewhat entertaining.
Write what you like. It;s an all free speech site right.

Hey I have been doing this for about 4-5 books now. In my mind, when a trade gets double 1’s….I want to provide entertainment for the review. Instead of a long rant on why this was a bad comic in my eyes, let people enjoy what they are reading. It certainly could be more entertaining then the books I read in the first place.

I’m mixed on your review. I like the gimmick, but it’s meaningless without any backing material. I had a 13 point system on why I hated Batman Begins. One of the points was inaccurate topography (something that is only shared with Troy!) but besides the "gimmick" of 13 reasons to dislike it, I did critically evaluate it.
On the subject of more entertaining, there’s a reason I often write long comments in a books comments section instead of writing a review. For me, wasting a review spot for my snappy 4 sentences doesn’t seem right. For others it does. My long reviews (See my Countdown and Powergirl reviews, longer and more well research than some reaction papers I’ve written) tend to be for books that I felt needed to have something said about them other than a pithy "It was teh awesome!!!1!!!!1!!"
However, this does explain a lot of things about you, my friend. 😉
How does an imaginary place have inaccurate topography?!

@gobo Actually, for Begins it’s really inaccurate geography, in that the movie refers to a "central island" connected to the "Main island" by a series of bridges, a donut hole if you will that is non-existent in a few of the Chicago fly overs but present in others. Troy has inaccurate topography because it has an inconsistent beach. At one point in the film the Greek vessels are beached about 300 feet away from Troy, another it’s a good 1/2 mile, in yet another, you can’t see the city at all from where the ships are beached. That would be one hell of a wicked tide. As well, the city’s relative position to the boats changes as well, first being "on a hill" then close to the water, then on a grassy otherwise unseen in the film. Please note that with Troy that’s all stuff I noticed on watching the film once through… 5 years ago.
