This is the comic that I’ve been most excited to see come out for the last month or two, or at least since the second I finished reading the first one. I really loved that first issue, and I think it’s probably the best single issue I’ve read all year. So I had very high expectations going into this, and I’m not quite sure that they were met. Now that’s in no way saying this was a bad issue, because it was far from that, but it didn’t capture me like the first one did.

In this issue we really start to see where to story is headed, and just who the main character is going to make herself. I think that Bendis is taking it in an interesting direction (although maybe a bit cliche), but yet there were a few things that confused me. That however may just be because it’s been such a long time since I’ve read the first issue. My only other comment about the writing is that I’m not sure what Bendis will be doing with the “breaking the 4th wall” dialouge. It’s interesting and inventive, and really worked in the first issue, but it seemed a bit pointless in this one. I do think he has other plans for it though, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Maleev’s art was great as usual, so I dont really have anything else to say about it. So overall, this issue, while not as good as the first was still an interesting read, and I would still advise picking the series up. I’m looking forward to the next issue, but I’m a bit worried that it will just turn into a female version of the Punisher.
