Man, this series reads like a punch to the gut. It's probably my
favorite Vertigo series currently.
I love the main character, because I cannot think of a more deeply flawed person that I have ever rooted for. He's in such a horrible position and it is so obvious he can't deal with it. Telling his girlfriend what he's going to at the end of this issue is pretty much signing his own death warrant. If not now, then the next time she's in a pissed off mood at him.
I'm a fairly large fan of cop dramas and this is one of the best we've had in a a while, and we've had some really good ones in recent history.
I love how intricate the story is plotted. This issue was a great little version of the entire series, with all the time jumps and reveals.
The art is perfect for this series. It's dark and gritty. You can almost feel the sand in your fingers as you read this book.
I'm a little curious why it seems DC can get such great authors for their Vertigo line, but it seems like Marvel is the one that steals them away and has them write their superheroes in awesome ways. See also, Andy Diggle
