i often have a problem with second chapters. first chapters introduce the concept and therefore, are often loaded with content. however, second chapters often tend to slow down the plot a little bit. and while i completely understand that this benefits the overall story it does often leave me a little disappointed.

don’t get me wrong, the issue was awesome. what i’m trying to say is: i wont more!
saga #2 was such a great read. the pacing, art and story easily pulled me through the whole story in no time. it was a great read and i can’t wait to get more. and that was the problem for me. as much as i loved this issue it felt a little to short. not much was happening (plotwise). and as i said, when i will one day reread the whole run i’m sure i will love this issue for the way it takes time to introduce the characters and slowly showing more of the world of “saga”, but right now i just want more 😉

  1. sorry for all the spelling mistakes. i wrote this pretty much in a hurry.

    • I felt it was way too short as well but I guess that is what we get for the first issue being 44 pages. As a whole, I was a little let down for this issue but am still optimistic for things to come. And BTW, no arms, WTF?

  2. I think I could see it your way if you are expecting action and something akin to a superhero book, but I am not and I found this so incredibly satisfying on every level I honestly don’t even have words. I loved this more than #1 and think this may be one of the best single issues of a comic I have read. When I re-read it, just like with #1, there were little subtleties and touches I noticed that I missed the first time through. This issue has more going for it than what is just at the surface, read it again and think about some of the new aspects introduced here and I think you’ll enjoy it even more and as a whole with the story so far.

    • yeah, i also read it twice and i absolutely agree the relations between the characters where great and that’s exactly what i mean, it was so great and read so fluently that i immediately wanted more.

when i said that the plot did not really progress i did not necessarily refer to more action. what i meant was that i wanted to know more in what direction this is heading (or let’s say: how they are going to escape their situation). because as much as i loved their relationship i think their escape and the politics (and mysteries) are also part of the story (and in my opinion just as enjoyable as the great dialogue and the little subtleties).

but hey, that’s just my opinion and it’s cool that you enjoy it so much. i can definitely understand that.

    • A #2 issue that made you devour it and left you wanting more is a great thing to me. Usually they are just a bit of expose or backstory with little else to offer, and this brought in new characters, worlds, excitement, questions, etc. I think that is masterful and so incredibly hard to do and rare to read that that is why I am handing out such high praise.
