I squealed like a little girl. That’s how much I enjoyed the ending of this book; I didn’t see it coming, it made sense and put into perspective for me the events of the entire issue up to that point. I don’t know how that person got there, or why, but the fact that a historical figure is interacting with Nathaniel Richards and Howard Stark is amazing to me. And while we’re on that, this truly is an example of the genius of Jonathan Hickman; we’re following the fathers of the two most important scientists in the Marvel Universe and it feels like we’re following Mr. Fantastic and Iron Man. The way they act is perfectly in line with their respective sons, and the choices they make seem to resonate with their sons in present continuity. There are also some nice developments in the Leonardo Da Vinci storyline as we learn more about his theories and their relevance in the Marvel Universe at large. If there’s a flaw with this book, it’s that it seems to be going at a snail’s pace, which would be fine if it weren’t coming out every other month; that, and the fact that no matter how interesting this stuff is it’s slowing us down from the inevitable crescendo of Nick Fury and modern day S.H.I.E.L.D.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
