Alright now this is just getting ridiculous.

Look I’m liking this series by Hickman, don’t get me wrong. But the bi-monthly schedule is really hurting this for me. Not so much that I want to drop this series, I mean how could I? Waiting two month all this time it feels like I keep dropping it. If this issue came out in June like a regular series then I wouldn’t mind what happens here.

Basically this issue gives us an origin for the villain…..I think. I don’t want to give away too much because that would be spoiling it. If this if this famous scientist is going to be the main antagonist then I’m pretty excited. I love these type of stories were history is rewritten or we get a new take on someone. Some of it here is a bit of a head trip, while other things are a bit funny unintentionally. Overall it’s another slow burn to introduce another character which….will probably annoy a lot of people.

Weaver’s art continues to get better and better as the series goes on. While I am not liking the pacing of this series, I understand the case of it. His art is so detailed on every panel. Cityscapes are amazing, his ‘fighting’ sequences are great, and the coloring by Strain and Ponsor makes it stand out even more. The two colorists does make some pages look vastily different then the other though. So one moment one character looks clean, and the same character will look different in the next.

So yes this is a solid issue as always from Hickman. But the problem remains that the scheduling is hurting this book. Again if this came out in June like a regular series, then reading another origin issue of a character wouldn’t be a problem. The slow pacing of it all mixed in with the scheduling is the real downfall of this series. I’m going to solider on though because who knows? Maybe we’ll finally get a move on with the fourth issue…..in October.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. That 5 you gave the art? It’s because of the bi-monthly scheduling. For work this beautiful, I can stand to wait.

  2. Good review dude.

  3. Yeah could not agree more with you. Because of the bi-monthly schedule I sometimes forgot who the charecters were. after I read this I had to re-read the previous two issues. If this keeps up at issue 45 will I have to re-read the previous 44?
