This arc has slowly gotten better because of one man……No one the title character, which might be a problem, it’s Bullseye! While some love the guy to death I just never really found a reason to like him. Okay he’s a psychotic hitman. Who isn’t these days? Then Jason Aaron tried to bring a new look to the man with this series. By ‘new’ I mean ‘just make him 1,000x more insane’. With the penultimate issue in my hands, the craziness continues and it just might be Aaron’s best issue to date on this series.

I like how realistic Aaron is trying to take this issue. In any comic story, even when the shit was hitting the fan, the villain would let someone like Bullseye continue, collateral damage be damned. Here, however, Kingpin is just so pissed how far Bullseye has gone with trying to kill Punisher that he just wants to end it now. It continues to be funny to me on how pissed Kingpin is at Bullseye, he’s like a mosquito in all of his plans. I also like it how Aaron continues to use Fisk’s wife and I really hope something big will come from it. Then we have a shocker with this issue: There is a lot of Punisher in this! Yes I know it’s a reach, but I think having your titled character in a book for more then three pages can work. The more pages Aaron gives to Castle the more I want to see him write the guy. I know he can do something big in his characterization, but with Bullseye front and center it probably will be till the next arc to see something big. My favorite panel of the week by the way is Bullseye writing to Castle what his favorite color is. That’s just off putting even if it is funny.

Earlier this year I was adamant that this title was going to be dropped. In a few short months though Aaron has completely reversed my thinking. This title is really starting to shine and everything is really going to hit the fan with the last issue of the arc. I will actually be pretty upset though if this Bullseye gets killed. He deserves to have his own series by Aaron; that’s how much I love him now.
