Peter Panzerfaust is a twist on the Peter Pan story set during WW2 and is told from the perspective of one of the lost boys. It takes place in Calais as it falls to the Germans, a bomb hits an orphanage and out of nowhere, a mysterious American soldier presents himself to the survivors and their adventure begins. This issue starts slow but it sets up the story and I can't wait to see how it progresses in future issues. I loved how the story grounded the Peter Pan legend in reality while instilling it with a magic quality - in fact magic elements are hinted at throughout (the very subtle reference to Peter's shadow is a personal favourite) The art style never distracts or tries to do too much, it allows the story to move forward. The colour palette compliments the setting perfectly. Peter Panzerfaust is definitely worth your money and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.
