This week, I felt a bit adventerous and picked up two titles that I have never read before, one beign Peter Panzerfaust. I picked this one based upon the Pick of the Week review. I have always liked the WW II stories from when I was a kid and read Haunted Tank and Sgt Rock stories, and the pow review got me interested in trying this book. I am very glad I did. I love the way the story started out, with what appears to be present day interview of an elderly gentleman talking about his first encounter with Peter. The story flowed very nicely, it was not jammed with the usual first issue type storylines of trying to get in as much background as you can cram in. Teases of story plots abound in this issue, the Girl in Peters lockette, why was the elderly gentleman being interviewed about Peter, and the hint that the meeting of these young boys sparks some untold dramatic tales that are yet to unfold in the upcoming storylines. Artwork, was good, though not my style that I go giddy over, but it does not take anything away from the book and frankly does a good job. I try not to be a hard critic of artwork, as differnt styles appeal to different people. This is simply a style that I am getting used to, there is nothing wrong with it at all. Looking forward to issue #2.
