[NOTE OF THE OWLS: Obviously, this continues the story from NIGHTWING #8. It doesn’t interact with other tie-in issues otherwise.]

It’s Nightwing vs. his great-grandfather William Cobb, and it’s really more Cobb’s story than Dick’s. This Talon, the one that’s been running about since BATMAN #1, presumably, is the most important one narratively, I suppose. And not just because of his progeny.

Nightwing’s hurting from the fight so far, and Cobb has the regenerative abilities of a Talon, which leaves the former Boy Wonder at a pretty huge disadvantage. It’s probably fortunate that Cobb decides he wants Dick to know just how disappointed he is in what Dick has become.

Anyway, I like it. The NIGHTWING issues of “Night of the Owls” are some of the best and easily some of the most important to the story – and, I’d think, to the future of the Bat-family. If you read no other tie-ins with your dose of BATMAN, read these.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
