I found nighwing #10 really, really boring. I wasn’t going to buy #11, but did anyway once in front of the rack at the LCS.

Simply put…

Story: Good and interesting…reaches WAY back to Nightwing #1 to start resolving that initial “Frame up” story. Some good reveals about Detective Nie (no spoiler).

This issue also features some fairly suprising violence. I will get issue #12 (grudginly if Barrows isn’t back on interior art). Which brings me to:

Art: Shite. Seriously. I dont know if it’s the inking or the pencils, but this was a big step down in quality.

BRING BACK BARROWS!

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 2 - Average

  1. I agree with your review. Nightwing has been one of my favourite titles in the New 52 but I’m getting increasingly annoyed with the art work. It is so sloppy amd looks rushed amd Nightwing/Grayson is so poorly drawn. He looked 100% better in the last issue of Batwing then he does in his own title lately. It’s leaning more towards the old run when he looked more goofy cartoony and this writing deserves a higher quality of art. Hoping this changes soon but definitely sticking with the title.

    • I was flat out shocked by how bad the art looked….amateurish is many panels. The story is keeping me in it though. As another user pointed out recently…. is it the writer or the artist that keeps you with a title? It’s the writer for sure.

  2. The story is the main thing for me too. I can tolerate bad art if the story is good. If it has awesome art and the story is horrible I would drop it no question.
