The last issue of this series was disappointing because the plot depended too much on coincidence, but with this final issue, Van Lente got the story back on track.  I loved the humor of Dormammu asking a question only for the reader to discover that his inquiry is a joke, and the punch line is Deadpool!  The homage to the film “The Exorcist” is brilliant.  Fred Van Lente is unusual among comic book writers in that he has the tendency to wax philosophical in an interesting way.  We’ve seen him do it in “Hercules,” and he has the characters in this book philosophize a couple of times as well – once when Hellstrom is exorcising Jennifer Kale, and then when Morbius explains why life never gives up.  I hope to see more of the Midnight Sons, especially if Van Lente is writing them.  The pencils by Walker work well for this book.  The art is very linear and the figures often weirdly elongated, but that fits the mood of this horror story.
