this issue continues shooter's strong start to his run on legion of super-heroes - overall, i enjoyed it. and i will continue to encourage anybody to check it out!

at this point, i feel like a larger story has started to really move forward. the first couple issues were fun, and very easy to read almost as stand-alones. here, i'm starting to get the feeling of going forward. we finally get a big collection of the legionnaires together, and there is an argument about saturn girl using her powers on her teammate wolverine...i mean, timber wolf. the argument is nice because it shows the immaturity of teenage heroes - everyone talks over each other, everyone argues, nobody agrees...the justice league this is not! and we finally see lightning lad do something right as leader - he can handle these dynamic situations better than the mundane day-to-day operations of the group.

a lot is still happening around all this - projectra dealing with the loss of her planet, and others trying to figure out what the deal is with the aliens they've been fighting. but this book always takes time out of for the little things - character moments, humorous asides...there's just the right amount of "color" in the story that doesn't advance plot, but gives us atmosphere. it really makes the legion feel unique from any other super-hero team, and it makes this book special and, most importantly, fun.

manapul's art is consistently very good, and his tone is just right for this book. excellent.

and the more braniac 5 the better, right?
