There's something really sad with
the fact that Dr. Light thinks herself and Vixen made the team anything
other than a pathetic joke.
This issue read like an old issue of JLA. The team seems to have trouble in the initial meeting, but still wins. They don't get any information. Cut to the big villains. We get explanation of who he is and why he does whatever he does. This one had the unique bonus of being fat but still being able to kick a tall man in the face from a standing position. Then we conclude with an all out assault that splits the team up.
It worked really well in the 70's.
Here it is just okay.
I really don't like the dialogue, and most of my problem is with Plastic Man. I understand he's supposed to be a jokester, but for god's sake, who uses the term babe any more?
But, of course, Vixen was just as stilted defending the team members. Well, if one person in the shitty team defends them, I, as a reader, am convinced they aren't as lame as they appear to be.
The art was about half a step up from Todd Nauck.

Babe is coming back in style.
Just wait and see 🙂
I love Todd Nauck. I got an awesome sketch from him at a con once.
