First of all, good news for all you Power Girl fans: unlike last issue, she’s actually in this one. And while I’m normally pretty down on issues that turn established characters into Max’s mooks, I don’t actually have much complaint with the way Peeg is handled here. Partially, that’s because her delusion is more emotionally involving than the standard “thinking the JLI are bad guys” thing that this book likes so much, and partially because our main characters handle themselves pretty well, unlike the fights with the Metal Men or the Creature Commandos.

Nothing’s really happening on Max and Jaime’s end. Their scene was mildly ominous, I guess, but that storyline seriously needs to pick up the pace.

You know who I love? Well, Rocket Red (so sad I didn’t get his variant cover!), who continues to be great, but also, and more relevantly, Aaron Lopresti. Maybe some of you were hoping for lots of cheesecake, given that this was a Power Girl issue, but in the only shot of her that was remotely porny, there was a sound effect covering her butt. I mean, yeah, there’s still the cleavage window, but I never felt like it was supposed to be the focus of the panel. Hell, Starfire’s kind of in this issue (long story), and she’s not treated like a sex object either. And in general, his art continues to be really solid. Does anyone know what he’s going to be up to once this book wraps up?

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
