Out of all the new Justice Leagues we got with the new 52, I was by far most intrigued by Justice League Dark. I’ve always liked dark, mystic books, and Constantine has always been a favorite character, although I’ll admit I’ve read far too little of him in my time.

I was hooked from issue one because I didn’t understand what was going on, but the art was great, and I got the feeling that this would be a slow burn with many more reveals over time to help explain things. By issue #3, I’m getting sick of waiting to understand even the basic premise of the story.

It’s unfortunate, but the plot is jilted, disconnected, and just plan confusing. There are too many characters with the same – or very similar – power sets and names that are easy to confuse. This is varsity-grade mystic story-telling, and as someone that wanted to really dive into the dark side of the new 52, I’m lost and bored with what’s going on here. I feel like after three issues, I can finally say that the blind-fold has been pulled from my eyes, and I can see that this is one of the biggest disappointments of the new 52 for me.

This is the first New 52 that I’ve gotten to issue 3 with and just decided I don’t care to make it to issue 4.
