When you see the words “Constantine,” “Zatanna” and “tantric” together, you expect something a bit less PG-13 than what you get. I’ll take it, though. Theirs is the first relationship we’ve seen in this book that doesn’t involve talking vests or dead people. Speaking of this, Deadman continues to be a smooth-talking pimp, which is also not as sexy as it sounds. “We’d both be dead … together” isn’t the best come-on from a lady I’ve ever heard. But Deadman and June are now the new league’s first point of contact with the Enchantress, so it looks as if shenanigans will have to wait. I can’t say I fully understand what’s going on yet. I didn’t read Secret Seven (which makes a shameless, meta cameo in this book, so I guess they’re encouraging me to read it), so I don’t know who Mindwarp is or why he matters. All I know is that Mikel Janin’s realistic art is blowing my mind, and that’s good enough for me.
