This comic is bullshit. Pure and simple. It is the absolute nadir of superhero comic books representing everything that is wrong with the genre and the medium. Every issue of this series has been filled with laughably terrible developments showcasing how *EXTREME* our 'heroes' are. Look it wants to cry, we are writing them as flawed characters. That makes them more realistic which makes this comic great. Never mind that characters are acting completely unlike years of development just for the sake of cheap thrills. And then this issue came out and the laughter stopped. In a moment that I saw coming a thousand miles away but desperately hoped was simply my screwy intuition, Robinson kills Arsenal's ten year old daughter Lian. Never mind that part of what makes Roy unique and stand out from the crowd is his parental relationship. Never mind that this now limits the character as the only believable direction for him to take now is to spends years in a grim and gritty phase. Never mind that from now on he will likely only be a character defined by his loss and little else (don't believe me? check out Donna Troy) Never mind that this is the hoariest of Women in Refrigerators, hacky, cheap ass, uncreative writing. At least James Robinson produced a fucking Justice League book that MATTERED where IMPORTANT developments occurred. Mr. Robinson I implore you to check out this weeks Invincible Iron Man and see how real status quo changes and dramatic plot developments are done. Since you have so clearly forgotten how to write in the intervening years that have passed between Starman and now.
Nor is Lian's fate the only problem with this book. You put Mia in jeopardy and can't bother to confirm what happens, good or bad, to her. I know she shows up alive in Green Arrow in a issue set post this one but that is still incredibly sloppy writing. You ask us to believe that Prometheus is the smartest man in the universe capable of anticipating anything. Despite being outsmarted by Catwoman of all freaking people back in his first appearance. Then you ask to believe that this same self-styled genius can get killed in the way he does. Presuming this death is actually meant to stick, then what the fuck was the point of all this nonsense to begin with.
I don't get it. I have been loving everything you have been doing in the Superman books lately where time and time again you have shown us your ability to weave compelling and exciting superhero stories. So how can the same man be producing the absolute utter tripe that is Cry for Justice. I can't even say you have pulled a Byrne or a Loeb.
When I finished reading this book my initial reaction was to want to scream from the roof tops, rip up all my Starman Omnibuses, and remove all DC comics from my pull list. Of course a few minutes late I calmed down and did none of these things. Although I have still not made up mind about that last one FYI. No matter how much I love Green Lantern if buying those books means supporting, however tacitly, this dreck... Well there is still Nova and Guardians to quench my thirst for cosmic action. Honestly I ended up doing none of those things because once I calmed down I no longer had the energy to care. Much like I have with JSA, going forward I will simply ignore any output from you and put it out of my mind. You have taught me that caring about DC comics and expecting good, well written product is too much to ask. Life will go on. Goodbye.

I honestly believe this was NOT what the mini-series was set out to be, and I suspect that large parts of this were tasked to Robinson.
All speculation on my part, but I see a lot of people giving shit to Robinson for this on Twitter, blaming editors for not saying "no" to the writer, but that’s all speculation as well.
Either way, it’s a pretty dull ending to the comic, and I’m sorely disappointed. But I swear it does NOT match the pacing that began the series. I feel like there was a serious shift somewhere in the middle.
I haven’t been reading this, but I read a friend’s copy after reading several online reviews calling it one of the very worst single issues of all time. I think I have to agree with that. And yet it has a 3.7 on iFanboy. I really don’t understand this site sometimes. Yeah, we can all have different opinions; we’re all entitled to them, etc.; and I know there are a lot of people on here whose different opinions I really value. But…3.7 for this. Nearly a 4/5 average. That almost makes me want to leave this site. What colored glasses are most readers of this looking through? What type of prescription drugs are they on? Tell me so I can avoid them in the future. I don’t want to live in a world where this comic is considered nearly a 4/5. GAH!
Something that rhymes with "ober meacting"…
